LG G8 ThinQ Rumors, Specs, Features, Price and Release date

The upcoming G series flagship smartphone from LG should be refreshing and competitive. Or that is what we expect from LG. LG with its 2018 flagship line up not differing much from each other was not received well.

Though they had everything enough to be called a flagship they had nothing special rather did nothing great. So that has eventually paved way for the higher expectation on the LG G8 ThinQ or just LG G8 whatever it is going to be called. More importantly, the LG’s line up of smartphones are facing low sales in the recent years and they definitely need a big one. Will the LG G8 ThinQ be the big one? Let’s see it for ourselves.

LG G8 ThinQ Rumors

Just a few months away from the LG G7 ThinQ’s release we hear rumours of the next iteration. Which is good. Since the day we started to hear about the LG G8 ThinQ it is all about display, display and displays only. Seems LG is very keen on the display and design area to pull the crowd that usually ends up buying Samsung for its sleek design and gorgeous infinity screen.

LG, also a display manufacturer which battles against Samsung on display sector too is said to be crafting a newer tech for its latest LG G8 ThinQ. The so-called MLCD+ is what LG calls it. Yes, it is still going to have LCD when every other brand is levitating toward OLED. Do not get disappointed. Because this new kind of LCD is going the have the same of amount punchiness in colours as the OLED panels and additionally could get as bright as 1000 nits which should put the sunlight legibility out of the problems list.

LG officially said they might come up with a ‘sound emitting display’ as they call it, for the LG G8 ThinQ. Which means the earpiece is going to vanish and hence the other sensors too should find a place to hide and make way for the true bezel-less display. LG is definitely not the first but it can get best with all the efforts of it so far on display and design.

4k resolution is the latest rumour we heard on the LG G8 ThinQ. Interesting LG puts all the effort on display. A leak star tweeted LG is bringing 4k with the LG G8 ThinQ which will make it the second smartphone with 4k display after the Sony Xperia XZ Premium.

LG G8 ThinQ Specs

LG G8 ThinQ being a flagship will have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 to have an uncompromised user experience. The RAM should be minimum of 6 Gb and might have an 8 Gb option as well. The base storage option must start at 64 Gb. The battery was one disappointing factor in the LG G series smartphones including the 3000 mAh battery in the LG G7 ThinQ. So if LG is hearing us, the battery should be at least 3500 mAh.

Cameras are one thing LG is going well. LG has opted for a wide-angle lens on their secondary camera unlike telephoto in every other brand and seems people like it. So LG should retain it and upgrade the 16 MP rear cameras.

LG G8 ThinQ Features

Another region LG is strong and consistently doing well is the sound. Both with external speakers and Audio output. Fortunately, they have the headphone jack and a dedicated quad DAC to give a rich sound output via the 3.5mm headphone jack. The speakers we saw on the LG G7 ThinQ were dual speakers which sound good. We expect LG to stick to it as only a few brands value them. The software has never been a strong point for LG smartphones. We hope LG looks into it and comes up with a near stock Android UI to please the users.

LG G8 ThinQ Concept

All the display improvements in mind, especially the sound emitting display we have a strong chance to see a full display front without the ugly notch. It won’t be surprising to see a true bezel-less design in 2019 but will be appreciable to have it on a flagship device.

With all the newest tech packed why would LG G8 ThinQ miss out on the in display fingerprint reader. Moving the fingerprint reader beneath the display can help refine the looks and fresh design which is very much expected from the audience.

LG G8 ThinQ Price & Release

LG G7 ThinQ retailed around 750 USD initially. So, we can expect LG G8 ThinQ to launch at marginally improved 800 USD for the base variant which is a good price when compared to competitors like Samsung and Apple.

LG has not been that consistent with their release cycle following the past releases. However, we can estimate to release in the first half of 2019 to directly compete with the Samsung Galaxy S10.
