The Nokia 8 has only recently been launched, and it has been a long time since Nokia came up with a flagship product. Nokia lovers are probably getting impatient with all the wait, but the good news is, there are rumors flying about of a new Nokia flagship product due to be launched some time in 2018. According to some insider reports, the new Nokia 9 is in the pipeline, and it is going to be even more spectacular than the Nokia 8. We have not been able to hear much from the horse’s mouth, but going by the snippets dropped here and there on the grapevine, we can certainly make some pretty educated guesses about what the Nokia 9 is going to be like.
Nokia 9 release date
We don’t yet know the exact date of the release of the Nokia 9, of course, since there is nothing to be heard about it all from the smartphone manufacturer itself, but we can guess that it will be out before 2017 comes to an end. That makes sense, because it has been quite some time since Nokia has put forth a product that can truly gives the rivals a run for their money, and in order to put themselves back on the map, Nokia needs to release a phone at the same time that the flagship products from other companies will be launched. The rumors actually find some solid base in the words of an HMD Global representative, who has been quoted as saying that a new, revolutionary Nokia phone is on the way.
Nokia 9 screen and display
Again, we have not heard anything from Nokia itself, but rumors can be put together and pitted against previous releases and products of rival companies, and we can guess what the screen will probably be like. It will almost certainly be a 5.5 QHD display; all the other rival phone companies are using it in their new releases this time. That of course means that the display will sport 1440 x 2560 pixels, which is pretty standard for flagship phones. It is possible that the Nokia 9 will make the screen size even bigger, a la Sony Xperia XZ Premium. Yet another possibility is the inclusion of an OLED display; while no one but Samsung has used it so far, it will certainly give Nokia an extra edge by being different, and also give stiff competition to Samsung, one of Nokia’s biggest competitors in the smartphone market. Besides, the OLED screen is known to make watching videos and viewing pictures a far better experience by producing amazing colors.
Nokia 9 design
There are quite a few rumors flying around about the design of the Nokia 9. So far, we have heard that it will have an all metal body, or that it will be resistant to Dust. It will also resist spoiling when dipped for up to 30 minutes in water 1.5 meters deep. Out of these, the all metal claim seems to have more authenticity; the Nokia 8 body, after all, was completely metal, and was received with widespread appreciation. There seems to be no apparent reason why Nokia will change its look so soon and reject a design after using it on only one phone. The Nokia 9 may also have narrow bezels on the top and bottom, similar o the designs of the other flagship phones due to release this year. However, that does not mean that the phone may not be water resistant; the Nokia 9 will likely be a pretty high end handset, and the water resistant feature is in keeping with that.
Nokia 9 performance
The Nokia 9 is certainly being built on the lines of great performance, as that is something Nokia will not want to compromise on in its second flagship product. With that in mind, it can be pretty accurately guessed that the Nokia 9 will feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, which is the very latest, and will run on Android Nougat 7.1.2 (that being said, it is the latest OS update so far; there might be something newer when the phone actually releases). 4 GB of RAM sounds reasonable, since that is standard with most flagship products. So, you can expect a very smooth phone that will work just as efficiently even when multiple functions are opened simultaneously.
Nokia 9 price
With everything that the Nokia 9 is supposed to have, and because it will be a flagship product, we can quite accurately guess the price to be quite on the higher side. At least, the price will be higher than the Nokia 8, but not by much. So, the Nokia 9 will probably cost something around $699 USD. Some sources state that there will be 64 GB and 128 GB versions of the phone, so you can expect to shell out more depending on which version you choose.
Nokia is keeping pretty shut about the whole issue even though some tumors suggest that the phone might be launched even before 2017 is over, and that it is going to be a fit rival of the iPhone 8 and the Samsung Galaxy S8 when it does come out.
