OnePlus is a pretty young company, but they have already made a name for themselves in the smartphone market. They were particularly good with the Oneplus 5, which was a phone with remarkable features, and great specs and performance, and also came with a pretty pocket friendly price tag. It was very well received by critics are users alike, and news on the grapevine is that it is soon going to be followed by the OnePlus 6. That makes sense since the company would certainly like to cash in on their success with the OnePlus 5 phone by following it up with a next generation phone. And they seem to be going pretty much in the right direction; a great buzz has already been generated in the market about this rumored new phone, and if OnePlus can sustain it, they will have no problem selling the OnePlus 6 once it hits the market.
There is not much yet known about the OnePlus 6, even in the way of rumors. In this article, we have tried to make some educated guesses.
When the Oneplus 5 was released, we were expecting that it will not have the headphone jack, and the hope was being enhanced by OnePlus, who announced that the headphone jack will indeed not be there. However, when the phone was actually released, the jack was very much present, so we are hoping OnePlus will live up to its promises this time and release the 6th generation phone with better audio. Most importantly, we are hoping that the built in speakers of the OnePlus 5, which were in the back of the phone, would be replaced by front facing stereo speakers. This way, audio quality would not be affected by accidental blocking of the speakers.
We are hoping the OnePlus 6 will come with a built in slot for a microSD card. OnePlus is pretty generous with storage as it is, but the choice for expanding storage room would be welcome. That was a pretty big contention with OnePlus 5 even though it came with the 64 GB and 128 GB options, so it is possible that the next generation will actually have further expandable memory.
OnePlus has never been particularly noteworthy with its screens. Sure, it uses a 1080p resolution screen in all its flagship phones, but in these days when other phones on its range are opting for QHD+ and even 4K displays, the 1080p does not seem enough. So, if the OnePlus 6 is intended as the flagship phone, it can be assumed that the manufacturer will include a QHD display to the phone’s specs. Besides, the fingerprint scanner should also be included in the phone; with a number of major competitors including the fingerprint scanner in their upcoming models, it will be a disadvantage for OnePlus if it doesn’t do the same.
The OnePlus 5 came with a good charging capacity, but it was enough. What made matters worse was that the battery size was actually cut down from the previous generations, which meant that the phone could retain charge for no more than twenty four hours. This was probably the biggest drawback of the phone, so it can be assumed that the OnePlus 6 will come with a bigger battery that will enable the phone to last on a one time charge for at least one and a half days without needing a top up. Quick charging ports should also be there in order to make the phone more efficient.
The OnePlus 6’s performance is likely to get even better than its predecessors. Almost all new flagship phones are going to feature the latest chipset in the market – the Snapdragon 845, so going anything lower than that will be a big drawback for OnePlus. That, along with the 8 GB RAM- anything more than that really does not make any sense- should make the OnePlus 6 one of the fastest and smoothest phones in the market.
The OnePlus 5 was a great offering from the OnePlus stable, and received much acclaim. Yet, despite all its remarkable features, the phone left a lot to be desired, and we are mostly hoping that the flaws will be corrected to some extent in the OnePlus 6. The 6th generation phone is likely to be the next flagship product from the company, which means a lot of improvements would be underway. It is slated to release in 2018, probably sometime in June though it’s too early to say for sure yet. Now, coming to the price, the OnePlus 6 will certainly be quite costly, given that it is quite a high end handset, but considering OnePlus’s other offerings, we are hoping it will still be less expensive than the other phones with similar features on the market.
