Motorola has been a brand worth reckoning ever since its inception. A few years back, it faced a setback, but partnering with Lenovo has brought it back to its former glory. In the late 2017- early 2018 span, it does not have many releases in the pipeline, but the few that it has lined up are eagerly awaited. In this article, let us see which phones we will be able to get our hands on in the next few months.
Motorola Moto Z2 Force
The Motorola Moto Z2 Force is an upcoming smartphone from the house of Motorola, scheduled to be released on 30th September 2017. The Phone will run on the Android Nougat operating system, with a Qualcomm MSM8998 Snapdragon 835 chipset. The dual sim phone, with a slot for a micro SD card, has already been released globally, but the release date in India has not yet been specified, but it can be hoped that it will hit Indian markets by late 2017. The 5.5 inches, capacitative touchscreen will have a screen resolution of around 1440 x 2560 pixels, and a P-OLED display, which should make watching pictures and videos a mesmerizing experience.
The phone will run smoothly, even when multiple apps are open simultaneously, thanks to the Octa-core processor with 4×2.35 GHz Kryo & 4×1.9 GHz Kryo. The phone comes with 4 GB RAM, with internal storage space of 64 GB, external memory of 25 GB, expandable up to 256 GB. The HDR camera is pretty standard, with a 12 MP+ 12 MP primary dual camera and a 5 MP rear camera. Video recording can be done at @30fps, 1080p@30/60/120fps,and 720p@240fps. The phone is fitted with a fingerprint sensor, which is standard for most modern smartphones. On the downside, there is no way of upgrading the Li-Ion 2730 mAh battery as it is non-removable. The price is expected to be around Rs. 46,999.
Motorola Moto M Plus
The Moto M Plus is one of the phones scheduled for release in the next few months from the house of Motorola. The smartphone will run on the Android Marshmallow operating system, which is a bummer considering most other smartphones now run on the Nougat. However, it can be hoped that updates will be available from Google. And the software will soon be upgraded to Nougat.
The release date has not been announced officially yet, but it will probably be sometime around late September to early October 2017. This is by far one of the low end handsets from Motorola, and that is reflected in everything from its specifications to its price. The dual sim handset is equipped with MediaTek chipset, which is a deviation from the Snapdragon chipset Motorola usually uses for the processors in its smartphones.
It is also equipped with only 3 GB RAM, with internal storage capacity of 32 GB, although external storage capacity is expandable up to 64 GB. The 5.5 inch capacitative touchscreen with 1080 x 1920 pixels boasts an IPS LCD display, which also sets it back from the OLED displays of the other Motorola smartphones to be released shortly. The 16 mp primary camera and 8 mp front camera should make for decent, if not exceptional, picture quality. Estimated price of the Moto M Plus will be something around Rs. 16,999, which makes it one of the few under-20,000 price tag phones to be released in the next quarter.
Motorola Moto Z Force
The Motorola Moto Z Force is one of the most awaited smartphones of the coming year. The phone has already been released globally although the release date for India has not been announced. However it can be expected that it will be released in the final quarter of 2017, or at most early 2018. The phone is priced pretty steep at 39,990, and the specifications explain why. The only drawback in the phone is its operating system; while most modern smartphones now run on the Android Nougat, the Moto Z
Force will sport the already dated Android Marshmallow. The good news is, it will be getting updates directly from Google, so software updates will most probably be available shortly after purchasing the phone. Apart from this, everything about the phone is pretty high end. The 5.5 inch capacitative touchscreen spots 1440 x 2560 pixels, and the AMOLED display will allow you to watch videos and pictures in great color and clarity.
The phone is also designed for pure clicking pleasure; the primary camera is 21 mp, although the rear camera is only 5 mp. The phone will run smoothly on the 2.15 GHz, Dual core, Kryo + 1.59 GHz, Dual core, Kryo Quad core processor with a Qualcomm MSM8996 Snapdragon 820 chipset, even when multiple functions are being used simultaneously. Storage space is huge, with a 4 GRAM, options to choose between 32 GB and 64 GB external space, and the capacity to increase space up to 256 GB. The only other downside in the phone is the Li-Ion 3500 mAh battery battery, which is non-removable. The usual security feature of the fingerprint sensor has been added to the phone.
Motorola is a iconic name in the smartphone market, and it is no wonder that the rumors of these phones releasing has generated a lot of buzz. It remains to be seen whether their release is met with the same applause as their previous offerings.
