Sony hasn’t been a leader in the smartphone sphere for a long time and even Sony knows this but the company’s philosophy is that something huge will happen in the smartphone arena and Sony wants to be ready when that happens to grab that opportunity.
This lack of reception hasn’t deterred them from making great phones though. This year’s Sony Xperia XZ series have been quite good with some cool innovations such as the 3D face mapping technology that Sony came up with this year.
It’s usually quite hard to figure out what phones Sony is gonna come out with the following year as leaks only come out very close to the release of their phones. However this time there are close to 6 models that have leaked, which is a rather interesting turn of events.
Upcoming Sony phones 2018-2019
Four new phones leaked
The first four phones have been discovered through official user-agent profiles. The four phones in question don’t have a model name as of yet but only model numbers and certain specs that have leaked. The first two phones are Sony H3113 and Sony H4113 both these phone pack 1920×1280 display’s and come running Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box.
Both these phones are expected to run the Snapdragon 630 and 660 processors respectively, unfortunately camera specs for these phones are not leaked as of yet. These phones seem to be premium midrange phones. The next two phones are the Sony H3321 and Sony H4311 both these phones have 1280×720 display’s and also seem to run Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box, these seem to be lower midrange offerings. The specs of these two phones are unknown for now.
There was one more phone that has leaked through Geekbench and is called the Sony H4233. It seems to be a rather large phone with a 6 inch 1920×1080 16:9 display running a Snapdragon 630 and Adreno 508 GPU along with 4 GB ram and 64 GB storage. The phone also seems to carry a 21 MP rear camera and 15 MP Front facing camera. This phone also runs Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box
Sony Xperia XZ2
The last and final phone we will be talking about today is the Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium which seems to bring a new design to the Xperia lineup of phones. This phone is rumored to be the first bezel less phone from the Sony Stable and is said to carry the H8541 code name.
The display seems to be a 5.7 inch 4k HDR display that is also said to carry an aspect ratio of 18.5:9. The leaked information points to a smaller phone compared to last year’s model with 149 x 74 x 7.5mm as its dimension. In contrast to last year’s Xperia XZ1 premium which had dimensions of 156 x 77 x 7.9mm. These dimensions and the increase in display size do seem to indicate a bezel less design in 2018 for the Xperia flagship.
The leaked specs seem to reveal a Snapdragon 835 which seems to be a bit odd. As to why Sony is going with an older processor for their 2018 flagship when the snapdragon 845 is just around the corner is a question that can only be answered depending on its release next year. The phone also seems to be carrying 4 GB ram along with 64 GB of storage. Apart from the new display you can expect IP65/68 water and dust resistance on this phone along with gorilla glass covering the display.
The phones we talked about are supposed to either launch at CES 2018 or Mobile World Congress 2018. We are expecting the Xperia XZ 2 Premium to launch at MWC 2018, the release time for the rest of the phones are uncertain as of now.
